We
are still very much in the holiday period and the sun is making more appearance
now after a month of heavy downpours— we couldn’t be happier. So what perfect
way to utilize this sunny weather and holiday time than by spending a day at
the beach, soaking up the sun while sipping a mocktail, watching the waves
roll—so therapeutic— or going for a swim. Nothing could be more fun than this (Hey,
you there! Got kids? They would love it😉).

So,
buckle up! Pack your bags and head straight to the beach. No excuses, my dear.

While
a day at the beach is fun and exciting, one thing you should not forget to do
is to take care of your skin. I mean having fun does not have to equate to
carelessness. Taking care of your skin properly at the beach is very important.
This is because the sun, the saltwater of the sea, and the sand can take a
damaging toll on the skin when not properly taken care of while on the beach. 

To
take care of your skin, you will need to carry some essential skincare products
to the beach. Don’t look at me like that. Yes, you definitely need more than
your sunshade, wide-brim hat, and swimsuit/bikini in your beach bag when going
to the beach.

to have on hand while at the beach.

no more! Here are five skincare essentials you should put in your bag and take
to the beach:

1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Light Moisturizer

Exposure
to high temperatures and the sun can have a drying effect on the skin. This is
why you must have a lightweight, non-greasy, or gel-based moisturizer in your
beach bag. Apply the moisturizer all over your body before going out to the
sun, while in the sun (most especially after coming out of the water), and
after going out in the sun. This will keep your skin hydrated and healthier. I
will recommend that you look for moisturizers with ingredients like hyaluronic
acid or aloe vera as they help in soothing and restoring moisture to the skin.

2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Sunscreen

No
matter how stubborn you are or how defiant you are as to the use of sunscreen,
I am here to bust your bubble: you must own sunscreen with an SPF of 15 and
above, apply it to every part of your body before going to the beach, carry it
to the beach, reapply it at least every two hours after the first application
unless you want to suffer serious sunburn—yes, sunburn ain’t picky— and other
side effects of sun exposure like the early appearance of lines and wrinkles. But
for real though, you are going to the beach for God’s sake, meaning a lot of
sun exposure, so you cannot afford not to carry your sunscreen. Forget
everything else if you must, but you cannot and must not forget this
product. &nbsp;

Also,
for additional sun protection, stay under
shade or a beach club umbrella, rock some stylish cover-ups over
your swimsuit, and slap on a wide-brim straw hat to keep the rays at bay.

Oh,
and here’s a bonus round: Apply vitamin C serum first and then layer on your
broad-spectrum sunscreen
for maximum protection against harmful UVA rays from the sun. And
guess what? This mixture will also give you that sun-kissed glow we all secretly
crave(wink wink). Go ahead, try it, and thank me later.

3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Lip balm or Oil with SPF

You
cannot neglect your lips
on the beach. Water, sand, and ultraviolet rays from the sun are
harsh elements that affect them just like your skin. These harmful elements can
cause
dry, cracked, and dark lips, especially if not properly cared
for with the right product. This is why you must arm yourself with
a lip balm or lip oil with SPF protection in it. Apply it throughout your beach
day to keep your lips hydrated and protected. If you wish to rock some color
while keeping them safe, try a tinted lip balm or oil with sun protection built
in!

4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Face Mist

As
pointed out earlier, spending time at the beach, although a fun and relaxing
time, can dry the skin due to the sun and heat. That is why,
along with a moisturizer, you will need
a facial mist. These refreshing mists are usually packed with
hydrating ingredients like aloe vera and rosewater, providing an instant boost
of moisture to your skin. You just have
to spray it
whenever your face needs a
boost. Get one if you don’t have and your skin will thank you.

5.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
Water

A
day at the beach means sun exposure
and high temperature, which could lead to dehydration. This is why
water is
a must for beach day skincare. Water is not a skincare product per
se but you need it to stay hydrated. Aside from constantly moisturizing
the surface of your skin with your mist and moisturizer, you will need to
drink plenty of water to ensure hydration inside the body. As the
saying states,
“You are what you take in.” And not taking enough water, especially when
spending a whole day under the sun, will reflect on your skin's
surface. It can make
your skin dry and flaky, regardless of what you already apply
to
the surface— which is a total waste of good products. In addition, it can make
the skin more vulnerable to sunburn and other skin damage.
Therefore, drinking plenty of water while at
the beach is key
to
skin health.

Aside
from keeping your skin healthy, drinking enough water will keep you feeling
refreshed and energized, which is what I am sure most of you want so you can have
all the fun you can have. So, before leaving home, fill up your water bottle,
put it in your bag, and you are ready for an adventurous day at the beach.
