Improvement in skin texture or reduced fine lines are reasonable indications. If there is irritation, redness, or peeling, then its frequency should be reduced or its concentration reverted.

In those with good tolerance, such may be increased to a concentration of 1% or higher. It is further essential at this stage to reassess the skin and to maintain reasonable and consistent skincare, including a high-SPF sunscreen.

Despite all the benefits, overuse of retinol can cause a host of unwanted side effects, which include:

Thinning of the Skin:&nbsp;Chronically applied, highly concentrated retinol can lead to skin thinning, making it most susceptible to environmental damage and fundamentally impairing its self-healing capacity.

Retinol is, without a doubt, among the most potent and effective ingredients in skincare—it offers various benefits from anti-aging to acne treatment. My experience with retinol has gone quite well, leaving my skin smooth and looking young. However, the real secret is how to use it correctly and be wary of some worrying risks. When overused or overdosed, substantial side effects can be expected from retinol use: irritation, dryness, and augmented photosensitivity.
