The
world has been programmed in such a way that most people believe that being
fashionable is only possible with a large sum of money sitting pretty in their
account, waiting to be spent. Most times we &nbsp;keep waiting to land our dream job and get
paid our dream salary so we can up our fashion game. 

The
other day I was in a taxi returning from school when I overheard a young girl
exclaim "Make I just get money first, the way I go change my wardrobe”. 

Hearing
this, I wondered how we got to believe that looking good is just for the rich
and influential people in society. I know money is important but definitely, we
can't give it all the credit. Things like style and creativity would help you
slay on a budget. 

These
little things can help elevate your look at school, work, casual outings like
lunch with friends, etc. To look fashionably smart try doing the following: 

The
first thing in getting it right is, learning to dress your body. We all have
different body types and not all outfits would fit one’s body type. It is very
important to know what wear or style brings out your features and what colors
look best on your skin. Just because it is a trend, doesn't mean it will be a
perfect fit for your body.

In
dressing your body, let your outfit be the right size. A small fit will leave
you in discomfort while an outfit being too big could alter your style. Always
ensure you feel comfortable and confident in every fit you rock. 

Apart
from wearing the right fit, endeavor your outfit is well-stretched or ironed
before leaving your house. A wrinkled outfit screams; "I do usually leave
my house like this” (lol) to people you meet. That is definitely not a great
way to introduce yourself especially to potential business partners. 

Another
thing you can do to improve your look is creatively style or play with colors.
I know we love the safe route when it comes to fashion. We either wear colors
that over the years have become recognized as colors that match or we go with a
monochrome style. While monochrome fashion is a thing, creatively playing with
colors when styling your outfit leaves a statement in the mind of people who
see you. 

Keep
a capsule wardrobe, that is, have small collections of clothes that you can
style differently depending on the occasion. Spend money on outfits you can
creatively style in different ways. A capsule wardrobe if done right will
enable you to maximize your clothes.

Invest
in accessories. Accessories include earrings, rings, broaches, necklaces,
bracelets, scarves hats, and clutch purses. They provide the boost needed for
most outfits giving you a personal and unique style. If styled properly, an
accessory can tell a lot about a person. 

Lastly,
dress for the occasion. Being overdressed or under dressed for an occasion will
not speak well of you to people. When going for a casual sit-out with friends,
wearing a dinner dress will not be the most appropriate fit for that moment.

Remember
people get to see you before they even talk with you. Let your outfit speak
good things about you.
