Nigerian Afrobeat singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly accused his baby mama, Sophia Momodu, of constantly using the tragic death of their first son, Ifeanyi, to taunt him. This accusation comes amid an ongoing custody battle over their daughter, Imade.

Davido recently filed a suit against Sophia at the Lagos State High Court, seeking joint custody of their daughter and unrestricted access. The suit, marked LD/1587PMC/2024 and dated April 17, 2024, lists Davido as the applicant and Sophia as the sole respondent. Davido hopes the court will grant him the right to be actively involved in Imade's life.

Sophia, in her counter-affidavit, argues that Davido is unfit to raise their daughter. She claims that his home is an unsafe environment for a young girl, citing the tragic death of their son, Ifeanyi, in 2022 as evidence to support her claim. This loss has been a sensitive and painful topic for Davido and his family.

In response to Sophia's allegations, Davido took to social media platform X to express his frustration and sorrow. He accused Sophia of frequently bringing up Ifeanyi's death to hurt him, describing it as a cruel reminder of a tragedy that haunts him daily. Davido expressed his deep sadness over the situation, emphasizing how this constant reminder affects him and his wife, Chioma.

Davido also mentioned his readiness to let go of the custody battle if it means protecting his daughter from being used as a pawn in their disputes. He expressed his belief that Imade will eventually understand how hard he fought for her. In his heartfelt posts, he reassured his daughter of his love and expressed his hope that she will see the truth when she grows older.

Davido clarified that he is not seeking full custody but merely joint custody, hoping to be an active part of Imade's life. He expressed his frustration with those who misunderstood his intentions and urged them to empathize with his situation.

The late Ifeanyi was Davido's first son with his wife, Chioma. Born on October 20, 2019, Ifeanyi tragically passed away shortly after his third birthday, a loss that has deeply affected Davido and Chioma. The singer's recent posts highlight the ongoing pain from this tragedy and his desire to maintain a meaningful relationship with his daughter despite the challenges.
