&nbsp;We’ve just drawn the curtains on another Super Bowl. This year’s NFL championship finale was a showdown between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. Long gone are the days when the Super Bowl was just a sporting event. It’s now a full-blown extravaganza, equally anticipated by athletes, artists, and advertisers alike. In case all you’ve heard is that Bad Bunny performed and the Seahawks won… here’s the real tea.

&nbsp;Every year since 2022, the Super Bowl has been held on the second Sunday of February. And this year was no different. LX took place on February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. And the Seahawks’ win marked their <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2026/feb/08/super-bowl-lx-seahawks-patriots">second Super Bowl title</a> ever. Certainly, a kind of redemption after losing to the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX (2015), as well.

&nbsp;This year’s halftime was historic. Bad Bunny's performance was the first of its kind. Safe to say the 2026 <a href="https://aura.ng/culture/nigeria-at-the-grammys-nominations-recognition-and-zero-wins">Grammy</a> winner proved his spot as Spotify’s most-streamed artist of 2025. His solo Latino performance blended high-energy hits and cultural storytelling, featuring sets that celebrated Puerto Rican life and music spanning generations. Then, other guest artists like Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, and Cardi B also joined him for a multicultural celebration.

&nbsp;Before the game, Charlie Puth performed the national anthem. Brandi Carlile also sang "America the Beautiful", and Green Day headlined a pregame "Tailgate Concert" celebrating six decades of NFL history (LX).

&nbsp;Sitting in the stands were Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton, among other celebrities like Adam Sandler, Pedro Pascal, and Jessica Alba, who were sighted. They made their first major public appearance together after weeks of speculation about their romance. High-profile ads featured stars like Chris Hemsworth, Matthew McConaughey, and Lady Gaga…among several other faves. 

&nbsp;The Seahawks didn’t just win; they controlled the game from start to finish. The spectators say they had a dominant defence, pressuring Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, who had moments of promise, all night. The Patriots were scoreless in the first half, which is a rare and tough hurdle in a Super Bowl. New England’s offence outgained Seattle overall, but it came too late.

&nbsp;Seattle RB Kenneth Walker III earned the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player honour. This made him the first running back to win the MVP since Terrell Davis in 1997. Meanwhile, Devon Witherspoon &amp; <a href="https://aura.ng/news/africa-s-next-generation-of-global-athletes-can-nigeria-keep-up-with-the-rise-">Uchenna Nwosu</a> were the defensive heroes of the night. Jason Myers and Michael Dickson were also the special team's stars who flipped field position. What a village it took to win the grand title!

&nbsp;In less than 24 hours, the half-time show has sparked global conversation and controversy. Despite <a href="https://americancommunitymedia.org/curated-vlog/bad-bunny-was-the-biggest-winner-at-super-bowl-lx/">Donald Trump’s criticism</a> of Pan-American harmony, last night’s display was a powerful representation of cultural pride. And if anything, it underlines the NFL’s growing shift toward global entertainment past sports.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Beyond the Seahawks’ impressive display of prowess, Super Bowl LX reminded us why this night annually commands global attention. It was sport, culture, and commerce colliding on the biggest stage. And per usual, the world couldn’t look away.&nbsp;&nbsp;
