Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has officially requested to drop "Pitt" from her surname. This legal move, confirmed by documents obtained by TMZ on May 30, coincides with Shiloh's 18th birthday, celebrated on May 27. This date marks her transition into adulthood, signifying a new chapter in her life.

The name change request comes amidst the ongoing legal battles between her parents, Angelina and Brad, who have been navigating complex custody and divorce issues for several years. Shiloh, who has grown up in the public eye, is now seeking to establish her identity independently from her father's surname.

In addition to Shiloh, Angelina and Brad co-parent five other children: Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, and 15-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. Each of the Jolie-Pitt children has pursued their own paths, with several opting for variations of their names as they carve out their personal and professional identities.

Recently, it was noted that Vivienne, who is actively involved in the arts, was listed as "Vivienne Jolie" in the playbill for the new Broadway musical "The Outsiders," which she helped produce alongside her mother, Angelina. This suggests a preference for aligning more closely with her mother's surname in her professional endeavors.

Similarly, their eldest daughter, Zahara, has chosen to forgo a hyphenated last name. During her initiation into the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College in November, she introduced herself as "Zahara Marley Jolie," signaling her own choice to embrace her mother's surname.

This move by Shiloh reflects a broader trend among the Jolie-Pitt children to define their identities as they transition into adulthood. Each makes personal choices about how they wish to be recognized both publicly and privately.
