Nicola Coughlan has shared some amusing behind-the-scenes news for Bridgerton fans. During the filming of a major sex scene for Season 3, a piece of furniture unexpectedly broke, adding an extra layer of comedy to the steamy shoot. Coughlan, along with her co-star Luke Newton, initially mentioned the mishap in an interview with RT2FM, an Irish radio station. They recounted how “a piece of furniture collapsed under [them]” during the scene.

Coughlan took to Instagram on Thursday, the same day that the highly anticipated Season 3, Part 2 premiered on Netflix, to provide more details. She posted a photo of herself and Newton giving thumbs up beside the broken chaise lounge, which had a broken wooden leg. The caption expressed their dedication to the series: "We put our heart and souls into this latest installment. Hope you love watching it as much as we loved filming it." Newton also shared the post on his Instagram story, highlighting the broken leg with a zoomed-in picture.

In addition to this humorous anecdote, Coughlan has been making headlines for her bold approach to filming a nude scene. When a reporter described her as "very brave" for doing the scene, Coughlan responded with humor and confidence. She pointed out that women with her body type and "perfect breasts" are rarely seen on screen. Proudly representing what she called the "perfect breasts community," she expressed hope that audiences would appreciate seeing her in the nude scene.

Coughlan further elaborated on her experience with Stylist magazine, explaining that the decision to film the nude scene was entirely her idea. She described the experience as empowering and a powerful response to the ongoing conversations about her body. "It just felt like the biggest 'fuck you' to all the conversation surrounding my body; it was amazingly empowering," she said. "I felt beautiful in the moment, and I thought: ‘When I’m 80, I want to look back on this and remember how fucking hot I looked!’”

Newton also had his share of fun discussing the series. During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show in May, he joked about having to "get really good with the fast-forward button" to ensure his mother doesn't see the more risque scenes in Season 3.
