The first thing you should know about me is that I’m married. I’ve been married for eight years to one of the sweetest guys on the planet, and I’m forever grateful to have been blessed by such a wonderful man. My husband and I have known each other almost all our lives. We met while we were both in secondary school, and we went to the same university, although we never pursued any romantic relationships with each other. We considered ourselves guys because we’d literally talk about everything and anything. It wasn't until we met again in the US, where we were both studying for our master's degree, that we decided to give this romance thing a try because fate had always found a funny way of reuniting us without our expectations. I mean, I never thought we’d ever see each other after secondary school, and then, lo and behold, we met at the university. We eventually parted ways after university, then unexpectedly met again in the US. What are the odds? Our dating experience was wonderful; on our second date, I already knew that this man was my husband and soul mate. After eight months of dating, he finally popped the question, and since then, it has been happily ever after for us, well, until now.

My husband is a hard worker; this man works like crazy, although he comes from an average background. He lost his mum to cancer when he was a lot younger because his father had difficulty gathering funds for her treatment. Since losing his mum, he promised himself that he would go way beyond, his name would be mentioned amongst great people and trust my man to always keep to his word. His business flourished and still flourishes; his growth all over the nation attracted a lot of foreign investors, he has made a lot of money to enjoy retirement, but my husband still has goals and knowing my husband, he is definitely going to achieve all. As someone who has never been a fan of the 9 to 5 work-life routine and my husband’s business, I decided to be a stay-at-home mum and housewife to our two beautiful kids. To make life a lot easier for me, my husband ensured I never lacked anything. When we moved back to Nigeria and agreed on our current way of life, he employed a cleaner, nanny, driver, and provided every other necessary help I might need. This gave me more room to run our businesses in Abuja while he travelled to other states and countries.

The past eight years of our marriage have been nothing but marvellous; he provides for the whole house, he pays attention to my needs and wants, he’s there for the kids even when he’s not physically there, he never fails to mention how much he loves me and appreciates me for my effort, this man has to be an angel because even with all the busy schedule and investors calling here and there he still ensures he makes time for his family – God definitely answered my mother’s prayer of giving me a good husband, but I can’t help but wonder if I am a good wife.

Before you talk shit about how I bring nothing to the table, I’ll start by saying that I am a proud PhD holder. Immediately after my master's, I went straight to attain my PhD and had many opportunities upon graduating, but that didn’t happen for obvious reasons. I supported my husband in every business and financial decision, every company he owns, I own. I worked hard next to him, building every establishment. We used to travel together to sign deals with investors before the kids. So don’t bring any daft unsolicited opinions to me. Even with his travelling, the thought of cheating never crossed my mind. We found different ways to explore each other sexually but to be frank, it was never enough; I missed him I wanted him, but he was hardly around. I know he missed me equally, maybe even more; sometimes he’d book spontaneous trips back home just to be around. There was a period when he was away for two months, and that had been the first time we had been apart for that long. I think I cried during that period, and this man randomly booked a weekend trip back home from Australia. When I say this man goes above and beyond for me, I mean he does to his maximum capacity.

Of recent, for obvious reasons, he was again out of the country for over three months. He tries to come home once in a while, but sincerely, it's been tough. I met Nonye at an event where I had been representing my husband, and truthfully, that event was a bore, but I had to stick around for him. Meeting Nonye changed the dynamics of that event and my life in general. I remember we started making fun of some of the guests, we joked about many things and eventually got talking. Nonye was the epitome of beauty, brains and class. She defined class in a completely different yet luxurious way. After the event, we exchanged numbers and began hanging out– the beginning of my new journey.

I eventually learned that she was married to a more advanced man; he was a prominent politician in the country who spoiled her silly. But just like me, he was always busy, consistently travelling, never at home, and I think we bonded perfectly because of our similar circumstances. From outside hangouts, we began to meet up at our homes, we became so friendly with each other in such a short period, but we slowly began to cross boundaries. From just hangouts to sleepovers, soon we were comfortable seeing each other naked, bathing with each other, and stuff like that. Nonye never failed to compliment how sexy I looked after two kids; she would tease me with words. It started with jokes about how much I turned her on, but like the saying goes, “na from clap e take dey enter dance.” Nonye and I soon began to dance.

It started as pecking on the lips to playful spanking and groping of boobs, but on one of our sleepovers, she finally summoned up the courage to kiss me, and it was magical. At first, I deflected, but she assured me it was going to be okay, she comforted me with her sweet, alluring words, and before I knew it, I was moaning to her touch. But after that night, I became more confused and distraught. I felt like a cheat, and I questioned myself, my sanity and my sexuality. When did I start finding women attractive? This one experience made me question a lot of things, but one thing I do know is that although I love my husband, I still want more from Nonye. 

Am I in love with my husband? Of course, I am, but am I also attracted to women? I think I am. I had never assumed myself gay; I mean, the thought had never crossed my mind until I met her. She changed the dynamics of my entire sexuality.
