Controversial media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, has reacted to the N5 million fine imposed on him by the Appeal Court for allegedly sleeping with another man’s wife.

In February 2021, a Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt ordered Daddy Freeze to pay N5 million for committing adultery with Benedicta Elechi. The fine was to be paid to Paul Odekina, who was married to Elechi at the time.

Unhappy with the judgement, Daddy Freeze took the case to the Appeal Court, seeking to overturn the decision. Recently, during an Instagram live show, he addressed the allegations, vehemently denying any wrongdoing.

“I’ve never slept with any man’s wife before. I’m not guilty of any adultery,” Daddy Freeze declared. Despite the court's ruling, he expressed his willingness to donate money to those in need but firmly stated he would not pay the fine. “I’ll not pay the 5 million naira adultery fine but I can send them N5m to feed,” he said.

He emphasized his innocence, pointing out that the incident in question occurred over a decade ago. “My watches alone cost over 100 million naira, but I am innocent, and I will not lose. This happened many years ago; this happened over 12 years ago,” he added.

Daddy Freeze’s firm denial follows the Appeal Court's decision to uphold the High Court’s ruling, dismissing his appeal. Despite this, he remains resolute in his claim of innocence and refuses to accept the court’s verdict.
