Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, has responded to claims made by Ms. Fagbule, who accused him of scamming her out of $180,000 with a false promise of marriage. The Ooni firmly denied these allegations, stating he has never had any contact or relationship with Ms. Fagbule.

According to the Ooni, Ms. Fagbule fell victim to a romance scam and he has no involvement in the matter. He clarified that he does not personally operate any Facebook accounts. His palace functions as an organized institution with a media directorate that manages his social media presence, including Instagram and Facebook.

The Ooni questioned why Ms. Fagbule, who claims to be from Osun State or living in Ile Ife, never visited his palace in person during their supposed relationship. He labeled the claims of receiving $180,000 and promising marriage as baseless and unfounded.

In a statement issued by his Director of Media and Public Affairs, Moses Olafare, the Ooni addressed the ongoing social media controversy. He expressed concern over the number of women falling victim to marriage scams online despite numerous warnings.

The Ooni emphasized that the news circulating on Twitter, particularly from an account named ‘99% OPPRESSED,’ is fake and aimed at character assassination. He reiterated that he has no knowledge of Ms. Fagbule and has never communicated with her.

The Ooni also criticized Ms. Fagbule’s decision to take the matter to social media instead of seeking help from proper authorities like the EFCC and the police. He suggested that if she had genuine concerns, she should have approached credible mainstream media or human rights organizations known for their fairness and thorough investigations.

The statement concluded by urging the public to disregard the false claims and reassured the Ooni’s global supporters that the allegations are entirely without merit.
